Trump's War

It seems that Trump is desperate and foolish enough to start a war with North Korea to deflect from his political assailants. Didn't he already ask more than once that since we have so many nuclear weapons, why don't we use them? War seems to be the natural thing for Republicans.

As soon as Bush was elected, I predicted we'd have a war...and we had two. Neither one was winnable. There was nothing to be won in either but there was certainly an opportunity to put more money in the hands of the rich and an additional chance to tighten his grip on a free society and an ignorant populace.

Now we have Trump...and another war looming on the horizon. With a new war in North Korea, Trump can declare martial law and rid himself of, and silence, all his detractors in one push of the button. Or maybe, if that war doesn't materialize, he might settle for Iran...or somewhere else. He's just itching to start something before he's fully exposed and outed for being...Trump, eh?

Of course, Trump has already declared war on opioids. If he really wants to do something about that, why not make some use of the military efforts in Afghanistan? Why not take out the poppy fields and deprive the Taliban of their source of income? Afghanistan produces more opium than all other countries combined. Why not combine the foolish war effort in Afghanistan with a real war against opioids? Raze all the poppy fields. Find some meaning in an otherwise meaningless war. Then negotiate with the Chinese for a solution to rampant synthetic opioid production.

Incidentally, the war Trump did declare on opiates last year, via an executive order, went only so far as to commission a report. There was absolutely no funding made available to do anything at all, regardless of anything contained in such report. As a result, nothing has been done. No war on opiates. Only a report. What a waste! However, Trump has falsely grabbed the spotlight for his demonstration of concern for the public welfare in that regard.

SYRIA...JUST SAY NO!

Who do we think we are in the United States? How can it possibly be right to attack Syria? Maybe Obama wants to claim one war for himself since he can't really claim Iraq or Afghanistan as his wars. He inherited both of them. Incidentally, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were foolish and based mostly on lies. Supposedly, we attacked Afghanistan because the Taliban didn't turn over Bin Laden (as though they really had a choice in the matter). Then we attacked Iraq just because the wacko Republicans wanted to.

Now...Syria! No way. Let some other country step up for a change. We haven't been victorious in war since WW2...not Korea, not Viet Nam, not Afghanistan, not Iraq and...we won't be in Syria either. Let's stop killing people all over the world.

A brief update...in today's news, Donald Rumsfeld is quoted as saying something like, "Obama has not justified Syria intervention." That is totally crazy! Rumsfeld is one of the key, guilty parties in the illegal, deadly, US fiascos in Afghanistan and Iraq! Does he think we're all idiots? Is he mentally ill or just delusional? If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld et al are not thrown into prison for their crimes, at least they should keep their mouths shut and slink into the shadows.

Is Obama trying to be a republican? There can be nothing good coming from an attack on Syria. Let those wack-jobs in the Middle-East take care of their own problems. Don't spend a single penny of my tax dollars on this horrible venture.

Okay...while I'm on this particular rant...I want the United States to stop handing out billions of US dollars to other countries (foreign aid). We can't take care of ourselves while we continue to prop up people and governments all over the world. Let them take care of themselves!  Heck's Bells! Isn't it a Republican mantra that a person should not rely on government assistance! Yet both parties seem to think it's okay to continue handing over billions to the rest of the world so they can live off US entitlements. Stop it!

We've proven to be an absolute failure in almost every international venture. What say we look at home? What say we let all those other countries (mostly, who hate us anyway) fend for themselves and let the cards fall where ever they fall. If anyone is a real threat to us...okay..we have the military power to overcome adversity. However, we can't continue fighting invisible enemies in the forests, caves, deserts and mountains of the world. These are all pure folly. Let's tighten our belts and look at our own people for a change, eh?

Here, in the United States, we have seen and heard the rhetoric concerning Syria. It doesn't matter how much is true or false. What does matter is that the citizens of this country (those, our elected officials work for) don't want this country to insinuate itself in Syria. Overwhelmingly!

STAY OUT OF SYRIA! LET'S MAKE THIS A DEFINING MOMENT IN OUR HISTORY WHEN THE UNITED STATES REMEMBERS IT'S A GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE...OUR PEOPLE!

Minor, additional update...today's news indicates that Boehner supports Obama in the effort to start a new war in Syria. How can it be so obvious?! If Boehner supports it...it MUST be wrong. What the Hell  happened to Obama? Stay the Hell out of Syria. NO MORE WARS! PLEASE!

Social Security Benefit Cuts???

I live in a little house in Fall City and collect some Social Security,
while I still have a job that provides almost no income. Every month, I
have to take more money from my meager savings to pay my bills as it
is.
Now! Now I hear they're considering a decrease in my Social
Security benefits. I've been paying into Social Security for more than
forty-five years and now it seems they won't be able to live up to
their side of the bargain. It's just too expensive to conduct THREE
WARS, bail out Wall Street, bail ou the insurance companies, bail out
the Auto Industry and countless other corporate entities all while
cutting taxes for the rich. It's such a great burden to hand over
billions of our dollars to so many other nations every year. It's no
wonder there's nothing left for me (and millions of others in my
situation).
Probably in every city, the largest, most
expensive buildings are owned by banks and insurance companies. Where
do we suppose all the money for such filthy extravagances comes from?
The same can be said for the most lavish homes and lifestyles all
around the country. It all comes from the little people...us. We pay
and they collect. Our government and business leaders are draining us
dry.
What is this all about? What happened to the Democrat we elected
as our President? What happened to the Democratic-controlled congress?
Why do we keep spending our money for everyone but our own people? Why
have we allowed our jobs to be shipped overseas?
When John
McCain comes out in support of Obama's war in Libya, doesn't that tell
us something? Doesn't that tell us there's very little difference in
the performance of our so-called leaders, regardless of their political
parties? Of course I'd expect the Republicans to conduct as many wars
as they can get their hands in but the Democrats!? Why are we still
giving all those billions away? Why are we still fighting in Iraq and
Afghanistan...and now Libya?
Enough! That's enough!

It's time to focus on the United States...on our own citizens...on our
own needs . I can't speak for anyone but myself. However, I'm
relatively confident that most Americans would prefer to have decent
health care and a dependable retirement income. We have nothing! Our
"Leaders" are squandering away all that we've all worked so hard to
achieve.
I suppose our "Leaders" don't really care.
After all, their own pensions are not in danger and their health care
is far superior to that of the masses. Even the "Snake-in-the Grass"
losers like Weiner can cheat and lie, then resign, and still collect
our tax dollars afterwards.
It's all wrong!
We
need accountability in government, a FLAT TAX system, universal health
care, term limits (ONE TERM) for all political office holders.
Corporations should not be viewed under the law as people. There should
be no corporate influence over our government employees (elected or
otherwise). NO CORPORATE POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS. NO PACS. Government
employees should have no benefits beyond what the average citizen
receives. NO CAREER POLITICIANS AND NO CAREER MILITARY. It should be an
unpaid (almost) civic duty to serve the country in any capacity.

I've just plain had it! A cut in my Social Security will end up costing
me my home while the Rich Just Get Richer, the politicians keep raking
it off the top and my hard-earned money is thrown to Nation-building
efforts, wars, corporations...
Anybody have any solutions?
