Easter in Fall City

I realize no one cares about my Easter. However, here it is...
For the big meal...
Lack of Lamb and Easter Bunnies too!
(That's not to be confused with Rack of Lamb and Easter Bunny stew. It's a lack of lamb and/or Easter Bunnies.)
It was actually a dinner of chicken and smashed potatoes with barking dogs nearby and hundreds of swallows (probably Cliff Swallows) overhead. They dart around like little jet fighters, eating bugs on the wing and...very shortly after sunset, many of them seem to morph into bats. Then, with the swallow population in remission for the night, the bats take over the aerial feeding frenzy. (In the next few weeks, I expect all the other swallows to appear...Barn, bank, violet/green, etc....everthing but Purple Martins!)

There were no hidden eggs on Easter.
There was no basket, no jelly beans, no chocolate bunny, no hidden eggs, no, "Happy Easter!", no Peeps, not much of anything here.
Easter came and went the same as every other day. Alas...it's not so good to be an olde man, eh? Time is a relentless foe.
So many years ago, Easter was a day of joy with all the goodies to be consumed...everyone got together and celebrated with a big feast. Well...the "meaning of Easter" isn't so different from "the meaning of Christmas". It's irrelevant. It's just a holiday for us. A day to get together and...enjoy.
Well, even though there was no "getting together", today, the sun shines brightly here in Fall City. The Billabong across the street is churning out millions of bugs for the swallows (and bats) to consume and summer is threatening to show up for the first time in several years. Perhaps, the gardens will produce something other than just potatoes this year. That would be nice!
